5 SGM Curriculum

In 5 SGM, classes are strongly customizable.

The core curriculum includes

  • management option
  • languages
  • athletics

Three main options built up linked to 3 laboratories are offered

  • Structural Materials and Durability (MSD)
  • Semiconductors, Components and micro-nanotechnologies (SCM)
  • Polymers and Manufacturing Processes (PPF)

Each option has 8 units of classes of 16h on industrial or current themes and a set of practical works and corresponding projects (called TPMD).

Those classes evolve more regularly than classes of other years because they follow the industrial and scientific tendencies and evolutions.

A research project linked to the option and the associated laboratory supplements the classes.

Other options

Students also have the choice to pick other options in common with other departments of INSA by replacing some of the classes above.

“materials and environment” option, in partnership with the GEN department

One option amongst the “cross-disciplinary options” inter-department (96h).

Students can also choose to do a Research Master as a double major during the last year.

In the beginning of the 5th year, the student prepares a course agreement with his tutor and the department to make sure his project is consistent, which will, in the end, give the engineering student a greater possibility to adapt his studies to his professional project.

The 5th year is strongly customizable

The practical aspect is predominant:

  • Practical work average duration
  • Research project in a lab
  • End-of-training internship in a company
